Groundnuts are often roasted and salted, but also are often eaten raw, or boiled in salt water. They can also be made into peanut butter, peanut brittle, candy bars, and other products. Peanut oil is often used in cooking, because it has a mild flavor and burns only at a relatively high temperature.

Groundnut is an important crop in Kutch. In 2001-02 Kutch has produced more than 100,000 tones and it is gradually increased over a period of time.

Groundnut in Kutch is produced as a Kharif crop and it is heavily dependent on rain. Productivity of groundnut in the region is higher among the districts in Gujarat.
